- Lead the US GAAP and US Statutory financial close and reporting processes, ensuring timely and accurate quarterly and annual deliverables.
- Prepare and analyze earnings reports, focusing on the key drivers of financial metrics for life and annuity products, including those impacted by insurance agreements.
- Support the preparation of external financial reporting under both US GAAP and US Statutory accounting, including compliance with NAIC requirements.
- Ensure transactions are accurately reflected in statutory filings, including Schedule S and related disclosures
- Perform required internal controls and maintain documentation under SOX, including insurance-specific processes (e.g., treaty compliance and financial statement impacts).
- Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability in the accounting for insurance activities.
- Undergraduate degree in accounting required; CPA, MBA, and Big 4 experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience with statutory filings (e.g., NAIC Annual and Quarterly Statements), including detailed schedules.
- Experience with life and annuity products, including knowledge of MYGA, FIA, and VA products, as well as their accounting under GAAP and STAT
- Proficiency in accounting for complex financial instruments, such as embedded derivatives, guaranteed minimum benefits, and indexed products.
- Working knowledge of deferred acquisition costs (DAC), value of business acquired (VOBA), and other reserve-related accounts specific to life and annuity products.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and general ledger applications such as PeopleSoft, Oracle, or SmartView.
- Ability to consolidate, manipulate, and analyze large datasets for trending analysis and reporting purposes, with experience in building visual dashboards and presentations
