WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT
Create a culture of procurement excellence so that procurement is viewed as a strategic partner, commercially responsible for procurement of all materials and services
Function as the subject matter expert, viewed as the strategic sourcing and negotiation authority sought out by business leaders to support large scale and ongoing negotiations for purchases of direct and indirect materials and services assuring the best cost, quality and on-time delivery.
Leverege the overall spend through standard work, develop a spend analysis and procurement plan for selected categories, establish the approach for contracts, grouping categories across business units, and a general plan to improve purchasing processes at each business unit.
Develop team plans for assigned spend categories, including milestones, savings targets, resource requirements and implementation plans.
Contribute to the development of the annual procurement plan. Track financial results, implementation performance and supplier performance; identify gaps and variances in performance and make adjustments to restore performance to plan.
Identify the category experts and critical stakeholders in order to lead a strategic sourcing process through the standard work that balances business requirements, financial results, quality and safety. Secure the required legal, financial, quality and manufacturing skills necessary to make decisions that are in the best interests of all stakeholders including customers.
Monitor external markets for commercial opportunities and challenges, identify and resolve gaps between business requirements and supplier performance and identify and resolve gaps in business unit compliance with procurement policies, programs and contracts. Pinpoint the required resources for resolution, escalating issues as required.
Lead development of quotation strategy; manage development of Request for Quotation (RFQ) documents to be distributed to qualified suppliers; lead detailed comparison of supplier RFQ responses; structure analyses to help stakeholders compare strengths and weaknesses of suppliers and their proposals.
Lead the development of negotiation strategies, cost modeling and sensitivity/scenario analysis to help stakeholders understand trade?offs and business benefits of various negotiation strategies/outcomes.
Lead negotiations with shortlisted suppliers; communicate results to business; develop final sourcing recommendation(s) and ensure broad support among stakeholders.
THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS
At least 3-5 years of a procurement experience, with at least 3years of direct leadership of a procurement initiatives.
A solid understanding of procurement best practices and a track record of success with both direct and indirect materials; key categories include Raw Materials, Outside Processes, Energy, Logistics, Capital equipment, and Packaging.
Direct experience in leading a procurement organization with a demonstrated track record of driving continuous improvement using lean manufacturing best practices.
Prior success working with cross-functional teams, managing relationships based on common objectives leading projects and complex change initiatives across multiple sites.
Strong relationship builder with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills both within an organization and externally.
Proven self-starter who works well both independently and in a team environment.
