  • Responsible for commodity market analysis and developing risk management strategies for commodities globally in all equity markets
  • Supports commodity sourcing decisions globally and approves ingredient pricing for global third party manufactured doughnut mixes
  • Commodities typically consist of sugar, vegetable oils, flour, and any other exchange traded products that the company may hedge (RBOB)
  • The overall strategy is to maintain constant supply without experiencing large unfavorable pricing fluctuations, while looking for opportunities to reduce cost & inventory investment
  • Develop and manage commodity procurement policies, procedures and activities, and ensure compliance with those policies and procedures, as directed by the commodity management
  • Lead all commodity management initiatives and the maximization of profitability and production.
  • Responsible for the management, pricing and purchasing of all commodities to achieve or exceed target operational margins and expectations.
  • Using strategic risk management strategies this position will be responsible for setting commodity coverage direction and procedures that produce measurable and profitable results.
  • Secure necessary purchases at lowest cost consistent with approved quality and delivery standards.
  • Lead and or facilitate supplier relationship management initiatives in respect to quality, service, and innovation.
  • Oversees market analysis in order to accurately predict the effectiveness of risk mitigation and margin protection strategies that are being employed.
  • Develops commodity analysis, financial forecasts, and commodity coverage recommendations for presentation to Sr. Management monthly.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or Agriculture; Master’s degree preferred
  • 8 plus years of commodity trading and risk management experience, preferably in the restaurant or consumer packaged goods industry
  • In-depth knowledge of “the industry, the product and the commercial aspects” of the business
  • Proven track record of being able to analyze commodity markets and develop a clear market opinion
  • Effective presentation skills, ability to persuade and influence others, strong negotiation skills, solid interpersonal and communication skills and strong decision-making skills are all a must for the successful candidate
  • Understanding of accounting and cost principles and working knowledge of all business-related processes (e.g. Operations, Logistics, Finances, Information Systems, Human Resources, etc.).
