WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Splunk Architect position is part of a team that is responsible for multiple applications that support the investment activities of the banking platform. Those responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Strong understanding of ITIL.
  • Strong understanding of change management best practices and compliance.
  • Strong understanding of Splunk enterprise architecture.
  • Strong understanding of Splunk development.
  • Strong understanding of Splunk infrastructure management.
  • Some experience & understanding of Elastic, Kibana, and/or Cribl in context of enterprise log management and enterprise search.
  • Capable design engineering skills with extensive experience using Visio and other diagramming platforms.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles.
  • Extremely good communication skillset. Capable of explaining/documenting complex technology to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong collaborator who places a priority on teamwork.
  • In-depth knowledge of Splunk Apps/add-ons and the ability to support their capabilities.
  • Strong CIM compliance background. Ability to align data strategies around a well-defined CIM.
  • Strong understanding of SPL and advanced architectural concepts which can improve performance and efficiency of SPL driven solutions.
  • Able to manage capacity and understands how to monitor capacity across components e.g. Heavy Forwarders, Indexers, Search Heads, etc.
  • Support upcoming Splunk technologies and able to ascertain the needs, design paths to align.
  • Design and support Splunk infrastructure patching and upgrade strategies.
  • Design and support Splunk infrastructure OS patching strategies.
  • Ability to design/manage migration strategies for Splunk based solutions, e.g. on-prem to cloud, SaaS, etc.
  • Design Splunk infrastructure monitoring strategy aligned with state-of-the-art observability best practices.
  • Evaluate and recommend additional product strategy as needed.
  • Architect and design log, metric, CloudWatch, etc. data onboarding standards.
  • Capable of vendor engagement as needed.
  • Understanding of Splunk billing model and able to design monitoring standards and solutions aligned to billing, e.g. ingest, usage, etc.
  • Capable of working with stakeholders to design additional Splunk App/Add-on based solutions.
  • Define SQL query onboarding in Splunk DB-Connect standards.

 

HOW YOU ARE QUALIFIED:

  • 2-5+ years relevant experience
  • Undergraduate degree desired, but not required.
  • Splunk architecture certification or equivalent experience.
  • ITIL certification.
  • AWS certification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong scripting skills/background.
  • Strong Unix/Linux system support.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • CI/CD practices utilizing GitLab, Terraform, and Ansible.
  • Agile best practices utilizing Confluence and Jira.
