LOCATION

  • Detroit, MI - 100% remote for now, then will sit on-site in Detroit, MI when staff transitions back into the office after October

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Senior Tax Analyst position is part of a team that is responsible for multiple applications that support the investment activities of the banking platform. Those responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in the preparation of the quarterly and year-end financial statements (10-Q/10-K)
  • May have supervision responsibility, which would include providing training and development to direct reports and performance evaluation
  • Coordinate with several groups across the enterprise in gathering all necessary data to compile tax data Lead and perform a variety of tax compliance workbooks
  • Assist in providing analytical tax support for larger analyses by tax and non-tax personnel
  • Maintain schedules of book/tax difference
  • Identify potential improvements to accuracy, timeliness, or efficiency, and assist implementation of improvements Address issues autonomously as much as possible; elevates issues/concerns as necessary Identify potential tax savings
  • Contribute to ad hoc analytical projects as necessary both within and beyond your primary area of focus

 

HOW YOU ARE QUALIFIED:

  • 3+ years previous work experience in Accounting or related field preferred
  • Bachelor's degree required (Accounting major preferred) CPA (or equivalent) and /or JD preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
  • General technical accounting and/or functional skills for area of expertise
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic and high degree of self-motivation
  • Sound oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize data, perform independent analysis, and provide explanations/conclusions to management Ability to work with limited supervision while applying previous experience to execute all but the most complex tasks
  • Ability to lead small projects or contribute meaningfully to larger projects
  • Comfortable interacting with other personnel in group or support staff from other departments; may interact with other internal and external personnel (i.e., external auditors, regulators) on specific projects or more complex tasks, usually under supervision
  • Advanced MS Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.) preferred
