WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT:

  • JD with 4-5 years of privacy experience including US and global privacy law, 5+ years legal experience.
  • IAPP certifications preferred (CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPP/A, CIPP/C).
  • Extensive experience in the area of privacy law, familiarity with US and global privacy laws including the GDPR, the CCPA, PIPEDA, and the China Cyber Security Law (CSL).
  • Extensive drafting, legal writing and contract negotiation experience.
  • Contract review and negotiation including data transfer, data processing agreements, and privacy-related provisions for other commercial agreements as needed.
  • Excellent judgment and the patience and perseverance to handle demanding customers while protecting the interests of the company.
  • Counsel on and draft product disclaimers, consent forms, and other public facing documents to ensure compliance with applicable data protection laws.
  • Track and advise on developments in international privacy legislation, especially for the regions of China and India.
  • Support compliance program implementation.
  • Support internal and external audit requests relating to privacy. Lead internal and external audits from a privacy perspective.
  • Manage the vendor onboarding process from a privacy perspective.
  • Advise on M&A privacy and compliance due diligence reviews.
  • Supporting privacy team on responding to data security issues as needed.
  • Work with various internal corporate teams, including our data governance team, on data protection compliance matters. Advise on Privacy Impact Assessments.
  • Advise all lines of business on privacy related matters.
  • Digital marketing related experience would be a nice bonus.
