WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Support effective and efficient network services including switching, routing, network optimization, voice services, wireless, and other functions such as circuit management/telecom connectivity. For these services the candidate will be:
Participating in active oversight/monitoring of the network environment, including devices, circuits, capacity and performance
Coordinating reporting on the health of the environment, as well as operational support and security compliance.
Tracking network tasks and efforts, and ensuring they are completed with quality and on time.
Tracking the commissioning and decommissioning of network assets and ensuring Asset Inventory is current, complete and correct
Monitoring troubleshooting, fault isolation, and recovery of failed network components or services.
Ensuring completion of root cause analysis on incidents, as well as helping to drive identification of preventative actions meant to ensure problems don’t recur, and delivering on the tasks within those actions
Reviewing operations guides/runbooks for currency, completion, and compliance
Maintaining alignment with network planning, capacity management, and deployment & support initiatives.
Ensuring network service quality meets all performance objectives and measures, including but not limited to
SLAs, security/vulnerability compliance measures, time and cost requirements.
Focus on continuous improvement and optimization of IT processes and delivery
Assist continuous improvement, cost reduction and capital projects.
Participation in review of lifecycle management status for network hardware, software, and WAN circuits
Oversee compliance and enforce adherence to corporate, business unit and operating policies and procedures
Support collaborative relationships between network, compute and other IT organizations, including both Corning’s staff and its relevant technology service providers
Lead initiatives and efforts as assigned.

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS:
2+ year degree in related discipline, or equivalent experience and network certification
supporting and troubleshooting network devices/functions/tools/processes in an corporate/business environment.

Solid understanding of infrastructure (compute, network, storage, etc.) environments and how they work
Experience troubleshooting technical problems and services
Ability to think through problem management, visualize solutions and drive to resolution
Create thorough documentation for design and planning.
Work with staff within and outside of IT
Solid communications ability, with great interpersonal and influencing skills
Able to work in team environment and motivate others
Flexible and ready to absorb new skills and techniques
Willing to be available for occasional off-hours engagement and activity.
Competency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
Experience working with switching, routing and wireless LAN
using monitoring/alerting/forensic tools such as SolarWinds
