WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT:

Key individual to drive high profile IT and Cyber Security projects and initiatives forward, focusing on business and service owner’ requirements, as well as keeps track of all the work that needs to be done in support of the key deliverables for assigned program and respective projects under it.

  • Define the vision as the point person on the product development team, using high-level perspective to define goals and create the vision aligned to service owner requirements.
    • Communicate with stakeholders across the board, including customers, business managers, and the development team to make sure the goals are clear and the vision is aligned with business objectives.
    • ensures that the team maintains a cohesive vision despite the flexible and often fast-paced nature of agile product development. Ensure everyone remains on the same page so as to work effectively.
  • A product owner will create a product roadmap, which serves as the high-level, strategic visual summary that outlines the vision and direction for the product offering.  This should be both a strategic guide for stakeholders to reference as well as a plan for execution
  • Managing the product backlog
  • Participating in Scrum meetings (or Kanban) and product sprints.
  • Prioritize needs i.e. juggle the triangle of scope, budget, and time, weighing priorities according to the needs and objectives of stakeholders)
  • Overseeing development stages and the actual development of the product throughout each event, including planning, refinement, review, and sprint.
  • During the planning stages, work with stakeholders to identify and organize the steps required for the next iteration. Meet with their team to refine the process, identify areas for improvement, and support the sprint.
  • Serve as primary liaison as the primary communicator and link between stakeholders and teams.
  • Evaluate product progress at each iteration
  • Working in an Agile environment and continuously reviewing the business needs
  • Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of Release/Sprint Goals.

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS:

  • 7+ years of experience as a Product Owner and Senior Business Analyst for large complex enterprise IT or Cyber Security projects and initiatives in a matrixed environment.  Involvement in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred –
    • Firewalls (Palo Alto)
    • Email: endpoint security - email security and related tools and technologies
    • DLP: Dependency between DLP and Palo Alto firewalls - traffic going thru firewalls.
    • AWS Cloud
  • 5+ years operating in an Agile Scrum Development environment
  • Financial Services is strongly preferred
