WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT:

  • Support effective and efficient network services including switching, routing, load balancing, network optimization, voice services, wireless, and other functions such as circuit management/telecom connectivity. For these services the candidate will be:
  • Participating in active oversight/monitoring of the network environment, including devices, circuits, capacity, and performance
  • Ensuring the health of the environment, inclusive of both operational and security measures.
  • Tracking network tasks and efforts, and ensuring they are completed with quality and on time.
  • Tracking the commissioning and decommissioning of network assets and ensuring Asset Inventory is current, complete, and correct
  • Assisting with troubleshooting, fault isolation, and recovery of failed network components or services.
  • Participating in root cause analysis on incidents, helping to drive identification of preventative actions meant to ensure problems don’t recur, and delivering on the tasks within those actions
  • Reviewing and updating operations guides/runbooks, ensuring those are current, complete, and correct
  • Contributing to network planning, capacity management, and deployment & support initiatives.
  • Ensure effective business continuity planning & delivery.

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • 2+ years of supporting and troubleshooting network devices/functions/tools/processes in a corporate/business environment.
  • Experience tracking tasks/work efforts/initiatives and ensuring they are successfully delivered
  • Solid knowledge of infrastructure (compute, network, storage, etc.) environments and how they work
  • Experience troubleshooting network problems and devices
  • Ability to think through problems, visualize solutions and drive to resolution
  • Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network systems.
  • Ability to work with staff within and outside of IT
  • Solid communications ability, with great interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work in team environment and motivate others
  • Must be a good learner, ready to absorb new skills and techniques
  • Must be willing to be on call available for after-hours support and an on-call rotation as defined by the team for any of the position responsibilities listed above
