Identifies and analyzes business needs, conducts requirement gathering, and defines scope and objectives of each project.
Makes recommendations for solutions or improvements to business processes that can be accomplished through new technology or alternative uses of existing technology.
Translates business requirements into application requirements, and works with all members of the team to execute the application successfully.
Engages client teams and explains moderately complex initiatives in an understandable manner, while also addressing any hesitations or concerns from the client.
Estimates the costs of various system solutions and prepares project plans to provide input into decisions about prioritizing projects and allocating IT resources.
Prepares and maintains technical documentation to guide system users and to assist with the ongoing operation, maintenance, and development of the system.
Coaches and reviews the work of lower level professionals.
THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS
Required Skills:
Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business or Finance with at least 2 to 4 years of experience in investment management or financial services operations
Must possess a working knowledge of investment instruments, i.e., Fixed Income, Equities, Derivatives, Foreign Exchange, Securities Lending, etc.
Ideally have general understanding of securities processes, i.e., Corporate Actions, Trade Operations/Settlements, and Reconciliation
Solid problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to take initiative and critically analyze processes and procedures
Detail oriented and extremely thorough – having the confidence to ensure work processes are completed accurately
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Advanced proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite of products (particularly Excel)
Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Desire to drive process improvement initiatives within the business to gain efficiencies and reduce costs as well as mitigating risk
