WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT:

  • Manage the annual tax reporting cycle and assist the team with the preparation of IRS Forms 5227, 1041 and other state and federal returns for gifts of complex assets such as residential and commercial real estate, partnership interests and tangible personal property.
  • Perform accurate tax research and apply laws and regulations to client situations.
  • Stay abreast of relevant federal and state law developments.
  • Manage tax team including performance management, technical training, career development, budgeting, and recruiting.
  • Thrive in a dynamic environment steeped in a culture of ongoing process improvement yet be nimble enough to manage the impact of transformational decisions

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS

  • Trust tax industry and knowledge of tax reporting industry practices required.
  • Experience with charitable remainder and lead trust tax reporting preferred.
  • Advanced competencies in trust and tax law. Knowledge of federal and state income, estate and gift tax. Knowledge of the Revised Uniform Principal and Income Act and state trust laws. Expert knowledge of planned giving vehicles preferred.
  • Experience in Internal Revenue Service practice and procedure and representing taxpayers with the IRS and state tax agencies required.
  • Experience with tax research tools and tax preparation software.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills to support interactions with a broad range of business partners, including software developers, technical specialists, and business end-users preferred
  • Ability to work effectively under time pressure and meet firm deadlines.
  • Ability to coordinate, manage, and lead cross-function and functional teams.
