WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT:
Acts as the subject matter expert in tax and identifies and resolves tax issues related to endowments and foundations.
Advises clients in accounting, banking, and customized tax solutions to help clients meet philanthropy goals.
Performs complex tax analysis, writing, and editing.
Monitors accrued dividends, interest, and capital gains on endowments and determines what is taxable.
Prepares and disseminates endowment financial reports to appropriate stakeholders.
Provides consulting services related to taxation, compliance, and regulation in endowment and philanthropic services.
Manages performance of team through formal performance review process and regular feedback to ensure exceptional service delivery, engagements, motivation, and team development.
THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS
7+ years of experience in the trust tax industry and knowledge of tax reporting industry practices.
7+ years of experience in charitable remainder and lead trust tax reporting preferred.
Ability to manage and assist the team with the preparation of IRS Form 5227, 1041, and other state and federal returns for gifts of complex assets such as residential and commercial real estate, partnership interests, and tangible personal property.
Advanced competencies in trust and tax law to perform accurate tax research and apply laws and regulations to client situations.
Knowledge of federal and state income, estate, and gift tax.
Knowledge of the Revised Uniform Principal and Income Act and state trust laws. Expert knowledge of planned giving vehicles preferred.
Experience in Internal Revenue Service practice and procedure and representing taxpayers with the IRS and state tax agencies required.
Experience with tax research tools and tax preparation software.
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills to support interactions with a broad range of business partners, including software developers, technical specialists, and business end-users preferred.
