WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT:
Develop and implement strategic and tactical technology plans, including architecture and system design.
Partner with Product leaders to set a roadmap to deliver wins that support the client's position as a Digital leader.
Establish metrics and processes to provide senior leadership clear visibility into the operational and technical health of the client's applications and engineering practices.
Inspire the organization to think differently and innovate. Provide thought leadership and collaborate with colleagues to drive innovation throughout the client's operating model.
The role will lead and grow a lean and multidisciplinary engineering team.
Build out the team, develop leaders and coach software development lifecycle standard methodologies.
Excel at hiring as well as developing existing internal technical talent.
Be both a technical leader and people manager.
Collaborate with other parts of the client's Technology team to produce and support technology solutions for the client's business practices.
Partner closely with the the client's Product senior leadership team to develop a roadmap that balances short term work you're doing with long term scalability.
Lead the software engineering teams handling, building and scaling the technology platform and will focus on driving security, scalability, stability, and reliability.
Understand the demands of handling a 24x7 application at large-scale. This leader must be capable of scaling themselves and their team to meet the ever-increasing demands of a fast-growing digital business.
Have the ability to easily switch between weighing in on sophisticated engineering details, taking a long-term view of the business, growing and developing the next generation of leadership, and overall operating as a large-scale organization leader.
Prioritize work, establish goals, and focus attention on the most important inputs to drive the desired business outcomes.
THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS:
Expert-level technical skill set, working on both the frontend, backend, and anything it takes to tackle problems and delight users
Authoritative with content management technologies and approaches, including both experience management platforms (e.g. AEM) and headless approaches and solutions (e.g. Contentful)
5+ years of running software on public cloud platform
Experience delivering software within Digital organizations and Digital scope
Experience evaluating new trends in technology and adopting as relevant
Experience designing and delivery content management capabilities at Enterprise scale, serving content to and handling operational complexity for multiple channels (web, mobile, API, contact center, etc)
Flourishes with a high level of autonomy, accountability and responsibility
Has demonstrated experience building and operating software systems at scale
Has developed teams that have shipped and operated critical product infrastructure, particularly cloud infrastructure involving distributed systems
Is a passionate self-starter, conclusive and able to move with speed to implement ideas
Has a strong track-record of delivering customer facing digital experiences and a genuine enjoyment of learning and diving into the nuts-and-bolts of how things work
Has excellent written and verbal communication skills, and is comfortable presenting to large groups and executive teams
Enjoys obsessing over getting the customer experience right
