WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT:
Apply a solid understanding of tax concepts and use knowledge of the business and key processes gained from practical experience in the preparation of tax analysis, including tax provisions, federal and state tax returns, research, memoranda and other various planning and compliance projects.
Research tax laws and other authoritative guidance, perform analysis, draft conclusions and write formal tax technical memoranda.
Research tax planning opportunities and effectively communicate to Tax senior leadership.
Support Tax senior leadership in providing tax advice to business and functional partners.
Lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements. Play significant roles in larger, more complex initiatives.
Interpret and communicate complex, difficult or sensitive information to tax and non-tax professionals
Supervise the work of Senior Associates and serve as a resource and mentor to teammates with less experience by training, developing, prioritizing and/or evaluating work.
Participate extensively in the review of federal and state income and franchise tax returns as well as other necessary tax filings, including estimated payments, extensions, etc.
Participate extensively in the maintenance of accounting for income tax records necessary for proper Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) financial statement presentation.
Review responses to inquiries from taxing authorities.
THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS:
4+ years of Big 4 OR large corporate tax experience
CPA desired not required
1+ years of reviewing moderate to complex tax returns, and supervising staff.
Advanced understanding of principles, practices, theories, and/or methodologies associated with the tax discipline including knowledge of tax return software.
Strong computer skills in Excel and other Microsoft products.
Ability to read and interpret financial statements.
