WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT
The DevOps Engineer must have extensive experience with Jenkins, GitLab, Bitbucket, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and/or AWS. This role must have experience implementing and managing a build lifecycle through CI/CD (Jenkins, GitLab). The ideal candidate must have experience with containerized solutions using Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift.
THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS
Principal Expectations:
- Extensive experience with Jenkins, GitLab, Bitbucket, Kubernetes, AWS
- Implemented and managed build lifecycle through CI/CD (Jenkins, GitLab)
- Implemented containerized solutions using Docker/Kubernetes
- Experience with design/architecting large-scale distributed systems preferably using AWS technologies
- Experience in EKS core services including cluster management, understanding of EKS APIs, Console and CLI
- Experience in open source and a desire to work with Kubernetes
- Extensive experience with Helm for Kubernetes package management
- An understanding of best practices around source control, specifically Git, GitFlow, branching, versioning and naming conventions.
- Experience with repository managers with preference for Nexus, Quay
- Expert level knowledge (5+ years) of Java ecosystem (JavaEE/Spring/Maven/JBoss/Tomcat) and/or JavaScript ecosystem (Angular/Ember/Npm/Node.js)
- Extensive experience with AWS Infrastructure as code, either CloudFormation or Terraform preferred
- Experience working on Agile Scrum teams
- Automation mind-set – an innate drive to continuously look for ways to automate existing processes.
Mandatory Skills:
- 5+ Years of Programming experience
- 2 Years of DevOps experience
- Coach teams on Tooling, CI/CD and Infrastructure Automation
- Participate in code reviews for automation scripts developed by other team members using Git based pull/merge techniques
- Monitor applications with Application Performance Monitoring tools
- Troubleshoot and fix issues identified in code quality, test and scanning reports
- Produce and maintain documentation on installations and procedures
- Actively participate in Engineering Scrum and design meetings to drive quality releases
